“State of the Industry” Report- Collision Repair

Judell Anderson • October 23, 2020

A recent 2019-2020 “State of the Industry” report published by Body Shop Business offered some insight into the collision repair market in Minnesota.

Among the key findings:

  • 5,042,568 light vehicle registrations
  • 139,591 reported crashes
  • 279,182 total crashes
  • 418,773 damaged vehicles
  • 181,468 repaired vehicles
  • 748 collision repair shops
  • 243 repaired vehicles per shop

Perhaps the most telling information was revealed when shop owners (on a national basis) were asked the question about COVID-19’s impact on their business and their general feelings about the future: 84% believed that their business will either go back to normal or be better than ever! Isn’t this the kind of profession you’d like to be a part of?

Whether working in the shop as a detailer, body technician or paint technician or dealing directly with customers as an estimator or customer service representative, the collision repair industry offers high-demand, high-earning, secure and meaningful career paths to fit your personality and interests.

There are one or two-year collision repair programs offered at 11 colleges in Minnesota. Check them out here, and you’ll be on your way to fulfilling career in no time at all!
